This has been described by many Numerologists as the Number of Power, but we need to remove this idea of a “Master Number” because it is simply not part of the Pythagorean Teaching. This concept comes from Ancient Egypt where the spiritual mathematics invoked the Base 12 numerical System. (which was used in the higher circles of Egyptian calculation)
In the Decimal System, NINE is the number that carries unique properties, in the Base Twelve, it is Eleven. The essence of the Eleven is the combination of singularity with duality.
The number itself gives a clue, two parallels, individual, yet combined as one. It is a number that represents a mixed blessing, because of the unique “variable” it seems to create in a person’s life. If you are strong in the Eleven, you will constantly find change being evoked in different aspects of your life.
When you have an Eleven prevalent in your chart, it is an indicator you have chosen to study, or seek to grasp, the inner working of things. The Noumenal Order is not a passive thing. It has its own intelligence, and will reach us individually in the way IT chooses. What I can say is that the occurrence of the Eleven anywhere in the Number Chart indicates a stronger connection to this energy.
But it is a potential energy, and if you want to use this energy you will have to learn ITS ways.
Eleven symbolises the balance between the use of Power and the use of Love. The dual paths are Love and Power, and when practiced properly there is only harmony between them. But when greed, lust, etc. take control of the heart, the power of the Eleven is ruinous to the individual.
By practicing the ancient Delphic proverb (Inscribed on the Temple of Apollo alongside “Gnoeth Sueton”) “Nothing too much” we can learn to get in charge of the dual nature of the Eleven energy. If we can learn to combine Love and Power in our lives, this gives us the inner direction to achieve a great deal in this life.
So, in a sense we can say that the Eleven IS the Number of Power, but I go this circuitous route to more fully illustrate that true power must parallel a deep, abiding love, if it is to be effective and useful.
The greatest power in the universe is Perception. Perception is really the true secret of the Eleven. It gives us the ability to see the divine written in the heart of all things, to hear its sweet whisper as its agent (what we loosely term as Spirit) passes through and enlivens creation. By recognising the Divine in life, and in ourselves, we can emulate it, thus fulfilling the prophecy of Socrates that we "shall rise up through the ethers and of ourselves become as Gods."
Classically speaking, the Eleven represents the plane of Agam Purusha, or that sacred void that protects the Godhead from the vagaries of its own creation. This immense deity, by report, challenges all who wish to know the true heart of God. It takes a brave Soul to master this challenge.
And so, it is with the Eleven. Persons with this aspect are capable of enormous leaps of faith that brings them into the understanding of truth. But beware, for if you fail the test of the Eleven you can easily become insouciant, and uncaring of others.
Most individuals are really not interested in coping with such an intense energy in their lives, and they retreat into "rational" thinking and conservatism. Hiding yourself in a “safe” job, burying yourself in dull circumstances, acting as if the world is too big to understand, all this is part of the negative backlash of the Eleven energy.
An emptiness of failure can haunt you, because the Curse of the Eleven is that it demands perfection, balance and harmony. Few can really master its nature, and the nagging sense of failure to achieve this can warp the personality, and turn a decent soul into a depressive alcoholic.
What people with this energy need to learn is that there is a time and place for all things. If we experience failure we need to understand it is really just a rest period until the energy develops once more. As a child learning to walk, we fall over many times BECAUSE of the process of growth, not in spite of it.
The only true failure is not getting back up after we fall down.
We are human. We are all in this together. Understanding this is core to unlocking the Eleven Energy.
As an aside, all the Numbers and number patterns have their particular tests which will be evidenced in both large and small things throughout our lives. By coming to recognise these for what they are we can more swiftly pass through them successfully. This is the really great benefit that the study of Numerology can offer the individual, a clearer life because of a developed perception. Note that I did not say EASIER!
Eleven has a phonetic key within it with the word "Leven". Though it has been lost to the history books, the two words were once related, for the Eleven has the power of levening the Human Spirit. In bread terms, levened bread rises in the oven, and in spiritual terms, the "Elevened" Soul rises through the heat of experience into the higher worlds of God, gaining more substance and personal truth as they do so.
Eleven is the power of growth and renewal, and this is what sustains the focus of the Noumenal Order. Coming after the Ten, which symbolises the finalization of one cycle and the beginning of the next, the Eleven is like the entire series of One to Ten energies all rolled into one. It symbolises ALL of the Decimal cycle, and so encompasses the vibrations of the decimal system in its entirety.
It is a terrible number for acquisition. If you are interested in increasing your earthly goods, beware. Everything the Eleven touches brings with it an entire set of learning curves to work through. It is a great vibration for those interesting in teaching and growth, but it has a never ending quality that often frustrates the person who just wants it done and dusted.
For these persons the Eleven in their lives will symbolise a series of conflicting decisions. This tends to activate the energy of the Two, and the Eleven frequency fades to the background. This is one of those curious realities on the Noumenal Order. When a person inwardly fails to grasp an energy, the energy itself switches down to lesser and lesser forms. In this case, the Eleven switches to the Two frequency.
The Eleven Soul simply cannot afford to be of two minds about anything, for where they place their attention, they will activate this energy. If they are double minded, it will fracture their personality in very short order. (Leading in some cases to mental illness.)
The inner survival mechanism of the individual will seek to avoid this, and shut down the energy.
Schizophrenia is common with those who tread the spiritual paths, even though most do not recognise this. It is a process of having ones head in heaven, yet dragging along their feet on earth. Until we adjust to this conflicting vibration, it will shake us, and rattle our sense of proportion, to the point where we will forget just who and what we are. And this is sometimes necessary for the true light of God to shine through the morass of social conditioning that inhibits and encloses our personality.
I mention this, because a very deep power hidden in the Eleven energy is one of resolving paradoxes. When the person in the Eleven Vibration reaches the state where there are no paradoxes, they become open to the higher forces at play in their lives. If not, the door doesn’t open.
“Human all too Human” is the philosophical argument for the general frailty of the race. But we can see it another way: For those who know their ancient religious history, we can use an analogy. "HU" is the ancient word of God, and "man" symbolizes mankind in general. This concept of God in Man, or Hu-Man, has long perplexed the philosophers, but if we look at the word Humility, which phonetically is Hu-Man-Ability we can see the key that resolves the dilemma.
Humility is the lesson of the Eleven. We are humbled until we learn we are divine. A curious paradox!
Through humility and an understanding of internal divinity, we come to learn to embrace power and love in the same moment, and this releases the freedom and clarity inherent in the Eleven.
Note: The word Human is believed to derive from the dual Latin roots, Humus (earth) and Hominis (man).
